Alsace France

Alsace (pronounced al'zas) is one of the most beautiful of France's twenty-six regions. Steeped in history thanks to its precarious location on the border of France, Germany and Switzerland, Alsace is famous for its language, wines and complex heritage – as it passed through German and French hands many times.

The beautiful and famous Rhine river which flows through Alsace is the feature of this region with its picturesque scenery and history landmarks which punctuate it.

The capital city of Alsace, Strasbourg, has 702,412 inhabitants and is the second largest port on the Rhine river – Duisburg in Germany being the largest. The city is famous for its unique blend of French and German architecture.
